Ergonomics
How you move and use your body at work and at home can have a significant effect on your musculoskeletal health and overall wellbeing. The correct ergonomic set up should be done for any work environment. Combining good ergonomics with chiropractic care can be an effective way to maintain healthy posture, reduce pain, prevent injury, improve productivity and your overall wellbeing.
At Aim 4 Health we perform ergonomic assessments of the work place and home environment. This assessment allows us to identify potential issues that may be contributing to your problems which include poor posture, spinal misalignments, muscle tension, pain and injury. Every assessment is based on the individual and their body shape, equipment in use and duties which are required for work. The most common workplace we assess in the computer workstation and use of sitting or standing desk. Other work environments involve kitchens, construction and building sites and cars. These assessments can be completed in our office and telehealth appointments. Our chiropractors are also available for workplace assessments for businesses and their staff onsite at their office space.
If you would like you think your would benefit from an ergonomic and postural assessment please contact our clinic on 9387 5383 for us to assist you to better health.
Straighten Up
Straighten Up is an ongoing community service initiative of the ACA, and is an easy and enjoyable everyday program to improve your health and the way your body functions.
Consisting of a set of simple exercises and taking just three minutes to complete, Straighten Up will help improve posture, stabilise core muscle groups, enhance health and prevent spinal disability.
The exercises can be undertaken by Australians of all ages with a special program tailored for children.
The exercises can be completed at any time of day but are most beneficial when they form part of a daily routine. It’s hoped that over time all Australians will take a few minutes every day to care for their spinal health, just as they do for their dental health.
Studies conducted overseas indicate that 90% of people who adopted the exercises as part of their daily routine reported a postural improvement. Approximately 80% reported that their backs are more comfortable and that they have better core stability after practicing the activities for several weeks.
Straighten Up App
While your chiropractor can’t be there 24/7 correcting your posture, the new Straighen Up App can! Designed to act as ‘Your Pocket Chiropractor’, this app aims to address the growing posture issues and back pain problems faced by Australians.
Features of the app
- Reminders: Set reminders to receive notifications about sitting right, stretching, taking breaks, drinking water and improving your posture.
- Exercises: A 3-minute spinal health program designed to improve spinal health, stablise core muscle groups and enhance health.
- Augmented Reality: Showing both good and poor posture in different settings. The augmented reality feature works in conjunction with Straighten Up postcards.
