Workers Compensation
What is workers compensation?
“Workers’ compensation provides a safety net for workers injured in the course of their employment. It is a form of insurance paid for by employers to support people injured at work or because of their work”.
Safe Work Australia
Chiropractic for Workers Compensation
Our practitioners are approved to provide care to those who require workers compensation. To become a chiropractic provider, one must be registered with the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA). Our Chiropractors are approved by SIRA and registered with Workcover NSW and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) to provide these services.
If you have been injured at work you need to get the right treatment as soon as possible. The best way to manage these programs is to seek professional support and advice from the right practitioners. At Aim 4 Health our chiropractors are experienced in treating work related injuries, working with medical doctors and insurance companies to assist patients with their claim and getting them back to work.
In 2011 The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine found the chiropractic care for work related lower back pain compared to physicians and physical therapists had:
-
- Consistently better outcomes
- Reduced recurrence of pain
- Lesser surgeries
- Decreased use of pain killer medication
- Lower medical costs.
How do I make a claim?
-
- Notify your work
We always recommend notifying your employee and insurance company at the time of injury or the onset of your symptoms. - Talk to your medical doctor
All injuries should be discussed directly with your general practitioner who will assist in diagnosing your condition, provide recommendations for care and advise on you on your return to work strategy. - Get a Workcover Medical certificate and Certificate of Capacity
During this appointment your doctor will create these certificates for submission to your insurer to start the workers compensation process. - Discuss treatment options
During your appointment your doctor will make recommendations for care which could include chiropractic care amongst other therapies.
Provide us your insurance claim details - Please advise us prior to starting therapy, that this is a workers compensation claim so we can get your claim number and contact your insurer regarding their approval for chiropractic care. Once approval is given, we can initiate treatment for your injury. We will liaise with your insurer, medical doctor and other health professionals.
